Grandchildren brought me to Hendersonville, and Helene’ brought me to the Air Museum. In those days after the hurricane I pitched in cleaning tools in the Restoration hangar where my husband Loren was a weekly volunteer. I was impressed with the network of support I saw at work and wanted to be more of a part of this organization. With a background of 20+ years in the nonprofit healthcare business and a love of volunteering, I began helping with procedures and policies- revising bylaws, updating membership lists, writing a proposal to convert the newsletter to email. These activities exposed me to the Board and the many motivated people who make this organization thrive, and I was hooked. I currently serve as the Board recorder and am training as a docent, learning the stories and history preserved by this museum.
